Japanese camellia oil is made up of approximately 85% oleic acid, a type of amino acid found in human skin. This allows it to penetrate the skin easily, providing ample moisture and providing a pseudo-ceramide effect that effectively protects the skin from external stimuli.
It also acts as a light sunscreen.
Furthermore, the wild camellia, which is the raw material for camellia oil and spicule oil, contains a healthy ingredient called okicamelliaside, a type of ellagic acid glycoside, and research at the University of the Ryukyus has shown that this ingredient is effective against allergies.
Camellia oil and Spicule oil play an important role in sealing wounds caused by sponge punctures, killing harmful bacteria, and protecting the deep dermis layer with their pseudo-ceramide effect.
