Self-Treatment Q&A
1. Where should I start?
- Espicure's Spongia Treatment will not strip the skin unless you rub it hard. However, if you are using cosmetics or facials containing Spongia for the first time, or if you have particularly sensitive skin, start by gently rubbing it in with white clay or green clay, allowing it to absorb without rubbing.
Once your skin becomes accustomed to the irritation, try rubbing it in with hard clay, rubbing a generous amount of Spongia into your skin. In either case, we recommend using Espicure's Camellia Oil and Water Mist Lotion as aftercare products.
2. How do I ensure full results?
- Thoroughly remove any oil from your skin before starting.
- When mixing with hard clay, rub it in until it sticks to your hands, as this will cause a noticeable tingling sensation. Rubbing hard clay into your skin when it's still watery will not produce much effect.
・For repeated use to safely create healthy skin, apply a generous amount of Cellglow Serum after wiping off the sponge.
・When using red clay on the body, cover the area with plastic wrap to prevent drying while it is absorbing, and warm it up by placing a blanket over it for better results. Red clay is not suitable for use on areas with sudden inflammation around the joints.
3. Is it painful? Will my skin peel?
・It will not peel, but after about a week, the dead skin cells will thicken and flake off with a scrub, leaving you feeling refreshed.
・There is no pain during or after the procedure, but you may feel a slight tingling sensation during the treatment, similar to a chestnut burr rolling over your skin. Some people do not feel this at all.
・The next day, if you press the area with your palm, you may feel a slight tingling sensation deep inside your skin, but if you don't touch it, you will not feel any pain. It is not painful and will disappear naturally within about a day and a half.
4. Can I have treatments for acne and other skin conditions? What about atopic dermatitis?
- It's okay to have treatments for acne. Surface acne heals quickly, but it will reappear after a while, so we recommend four or five treatments.
- Treatments are not available for those with active atopic dermatitis, but we recommend treatments for rough skin after atopic dermatitis has healed.
- It is also suitable for tightening surgical scars and loose skin.
5. Can I wear makeup on the day of the treatment? How many hours after the treatment can I wash my face and bathe?
- After self-treatment, rinse lightly with lukewarm water. Wait at least seven hours before washing with soap.
- When going out on the day of the treatment, apply only sunscreen. You cannot wash with soap for seven hours, but you can wear light makeup.
6. Does it sting after a body treatment?
- After a SpongeA treatment, you may feel a tingling sensation when you press with your palm. (It is not painful; the sponge only reaches the stratum corneum.) Therefore, if you are receiving a shoulder, neck, or body treatment, it is more comfortable to avoid tight-fitting clothing.
- Applying camellia oil after the treatment will help soothe your skin.
7. What are the specific benefits of a SpongeA body treatment?
I think it can be incorporated into bridal and other treatments at salons.
It can help with back acne, whiten skin, and make your skin smoother.
If you apply a SpongeA pack to your shoulders or neck when you have severe stiffness, it will soften the area, making it easier to release the tension with a subsequent oil massage.
After using a SpongeA on your body, be sure to moisturize thoroughly with camellia oil. This will eliminate the tingling sensation.
When doing it yourself, I recommend applying a mixture of clay and spongea to the tip of a brush and working on your shoulders, neck, and lower back while watching in the mirror. Then, apply a mixture of spongea and clay dissolved in water (be careful not to add too much water). Then, place wax paper on top to prevent it from drying out, and lie face down for a while. Cover with a bath towel or heavy blanket to warm it up and add some weight.
8. Is it okay to increase the amount of spongea?
0.3g per use is enough to provide a sufficient stimulation.
9. How can I achieve even more lift?
⚫︎Take the extra step of exfoliating before the treatment. It's ideal to dissolve just the hard clay in water and massage it into your face as a pack for about 5 minutes.
⚫︎Massage frequently, from bottom to top. Rub upwards more than 100 times in each treatment.
⚫︎This treatment is effective by utilizing the skin's immune response, so if you do it too frequently, the response will become weaker. Please leave about a month between treatments.
Other notes
•Avoid bathing or strenuous exercise for about 7 hours after the treatment to prevent the sponge from being washed away by sweat.
If you tend to sweat easily in areas such as your shoulders, neck, back, or hips, you should avoid sleeping on your back to prevent friction and stuffiness.
If you are prone to rashes, test on an inconspicuous area before applying.
The day after treatment on the shoulders, neck, back, or waist, you may feel fatigue or heaviness due to a healing reaction. Please try to relax the next day as much as possible.
Red clay contains iron. Do not use if you have a metal allergy.
